della Croce Church L'interno della Chiesa della Croce cela uno dei gioielli più belli di Senigallia

Located approximately 50 meters from the Town Hall square, the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and Cross, as it is fully titled, was designed in its current form and size by Muzio Oddi of Urbino, who had the privilege of living in the house located immediately after the one where Raffaello Sanzio lived in Urbino. The church, initially built as a simple oratory for the meetings of the Confraternity of the same name and already embellished with the splendid altarpiece by Federico Barocci depicting the Burial of Christ or “Transposition of Christ to the Sepulchre”, later became a place of worship starting in 1576 but smaller than the current version. In addition to Barocci’s altarpiece, the side altars are noteworthy, among which the one dedicated to Saint Barbara, also known as the Bombardieri, stands out, with the front columns actually being two cannon shafts and the first altar on the right entering with the Assumption of the Virgin into Heaven and Saints among whom Saint Nicholas of Tolentino can be recognized with the traditional attribute of the sun on his chest.

Also noteworthy is the organ built by Gaetano Callido in 1775 and still in working order.
