Mazzola Winery and Olive Oil Mill

The Mazzola Winery and Olive Mill was born from the convergence of two stories and two passions: that of Manuel Giobbi, from Lombardy but tied since childhood to his summers in the Marche region, and that of Ilka Ilieva, from Bulgaria, his partner in both life and work. Together, they chose Senigallia as their home and the starting point for an authentic agricultural project, deeply rooted in the local territory.

It all began with an abandoned farmhouse between Scapezzano and upper Senigallia, purchased and brought back to life by the Giobbi family along with the surrounding eight hectares of land. A special place, located within the ancient Marchesato Bandita Sanguineto, historically renowned for the production of quality wine and olive oil. Starting from that first core, driven by the encouraging results of the initial harvests and supported by Ilka, Manuel decided to leave his career in finance to dedicate himself entirely to agriculture.

Today, the estate spans 13 hectares of olive groves and 3.5 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with great respect for the environment, rediscovering ancient grape varieties and enhancing native cultivars. This vision gives life to 4 extra virgin olive oils—ranging from light to intense fruitiness—and 8 wines, both white and red, as well as a uniquely distinctive visciolato (sour cherry wine). Everything is produced using indigenous yeasts and artisanal methods, completely avoiding invasive techniques: the goal is to preserve the aromatic identity of both grapes and oil, letting the territory speak for itself.

“I try to take the best of tradition and update it,” Manuel explains. It is an approach reflected in his wines—elegant, clean, and expressive of the terroir—where historic varieties like Lacrima, Verdicchio, Sangiovese, and Montepulciano coexist with rediscovered grape varieties such as Maiolica, which represents one of the most exciting projects of recent years.

Every bottle from the Mazzola Winery carries with it a story of homecomings, courageous choices, and constant experimentation. It is the result of a journey that begins in the soil, passes through the hands and sensitivity of those who tend it, and arrives in the glass with a single promise: to express, without filters, the soul of an extraordinary place.
