Feel Senigallia will remind you what to do and what exciting news is in the city (and surrounding areas).
The Municipality of Senigallia and the Cultural Association LeMuse present the third edition of Senigallia Concerti, a rich program of events running from November 17 to April 30, 2025.
“Senigallia Concerti expands both temporal horizons and artistic visions,” emphasizes Maestro Federico Mondelci, Artistic Director of Senigallia Concerti. “Today, we can speak of Senigallia as a regional reference for great music.” There will be 10 concerts at the Teatro La Fenice and two at San Rocco. The season opens on November 17th at Teatro La Fenice (5:00 PM) with Enrico Rava, an undisputed artist, one of the most internationally recognized and appreciated, described by Corriere della Sera as “a free man in the Olympus of jazz!” The proposals continue from November to April, alternating symphonic and chamber masterpieces with contemporary musical expressions that have now rightfully become part of music history. It is no coincidence that alongside Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Brahms, we also find Carlos Jobim, Frank Sinatra, Astor Piazzolla…
A season for everyone, capable of engaging young audiences and providing music lovers with an important local reference. I am happy to bring my experience as a musician and artistic director to the city of Senigallia, a project that has been accredited by the Ministry of Culture and the Marche Region for its value.”
The Season begins on November 17th with a new project by Enrico Rava.
Once again driven by his multifaceted spirit towards new paths and original artistic collaborations, Enrico Rava, with determination and without resting on past achievements, will present the project “ENRICO RAVA ‘FRIENDS’,” an exciting challenge towards new frontiers in his long career, alongside Emanuele Filippi on piano, Michelangelo Scandroglio on double bass, and Mattia Galeotti on drums, three young musicians from the new Tuscan jazz scene.
The orchestras at La Fenice accompany some of the most prestigious names in the global music scene. The first (December 6) is the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese with Ettore Pellegrino on violin and concertmaster, and Silvia Mazzon on violin and viola, and it will also close the festival (April 30) with Maurizio Baglini on piano, and saxophone and direction by Federico Mondelci, performing the famous Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin and a Suite from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein.
On January 19, a stunning Tribute to Frank Sinatra with Anthony Strong, one of the most creative and appreciated interpreters of American song, accompanied by the Colours Jazz Orchestra. Then, in chronological order, the FORM-Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana led by Matthias Bamert (March 9), followed by two performances with the ICO Orchestra Suoni del Sud: the first (March 22), conducted by Massimo Morganti, pays tribute to Carlos Jobim, featuring one of the world’s most celebrated Brazilian music interpreters, Gabriele Mirabassi on clarinet, and in the second (April 13), conducted by Ettore Pellegrino, featuring Fabio Furia, the highly applauded bandoneon virtuoso.
The season also features soloists and groups exploring the many paths of ‘classical’ music: the Christmas Concert (December 25) with the Gospel Choir – Voices of Victory directed by Nicole Ingram Taylor; the only recital of the season at the Auditorium San Rocco on January 12, by the extraordinary Japanese pianist Jin Ju; the most ‘classic’ chamber repertoire at La Fenice with the young, outstanding Ettore Pagano on cello and pianist Massimo Spada (February 9), and a ‘classic’ project at the Auditorium (February 16) by the Umbria Ensemble, with the recited voice of Domenico Benedetti Valentini, bringing together words and music by the young Beethoven.
The Concerts
The season kicks off (November 17) with jazz proposed by Enrico Rava, one of the most internationally recognized and appreciated artists, here accompanied by three young talents ready to explore with him new musical paths in the significant event “Enrico Rava ‘Friends.’”
Rava is renowned for his extensive list of collaborations with musicians from Italy, Europe, and America, including Stefano Bollani, Joe Henderson, Pat Metheny, Michel Petrucciani, and Joe Lovano. Applauded at tours and concerts in major festivals worldwide, and for numerous award-winning recordings that have marked his artistic journey for over thirty years.
Once again driven by his multifaceted spirit toward new paths and original artistic collaborations, Enrico Rava continues his stimulating challenges with the project “ENRICO RAVA ‘FRIENDS’” in Senigallia, joined by Emanuele Filippi on piano, Michelangelo Scandroglio on double bass, and Mattia Galeotti on drums, three young musicians from the new Tuscan jazz scene.
Following (December 6), in “Concertando,” we meet the first orchestra of the season, the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, presenting a ‘world premiere’ by Molinelli dedicated to Mozart, alongside a journey into the early life of the Salzburg-born composer with the Concertone and Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola, performed by Silvia Mazzon and Ettore Pellegrino, who will also serve as concertmaster.
As tradition dictates, the “Christmas Concert” will brighten the holiday afternoon with gospel singing and rhythm: at La Fenice (December 25), the celebrated Gospel Choir – Voices of Victory from Orlando, Florida, directed by Nicole Ingram Taylor, will perform.
From a vocal group to a “Piano Recital,” the only one of the season (January 12), entrusted to one of the most prominent and interesting virtuosi, Chinese pianist Jin Ju, who will take us from Mendelssohn’s “musical drawing-room” to Liszt’s virtuosic transcriptions of Schubert and Verdi at the Auditorium San Rocco.
The fifth concert in the program (January 19) returns to Teatro La Fenice with a “Frank Sinatra Tribute,” in which Anthony Strong, singer and pianist, will offer a journey through the American songbook’s classics, accompanied by the Colours Jazz Orchestra.
From the United States, we return to Europe for the following appointment (February 9), showcasing the most ‘classical’ genre, “Chamber Music” by Beethoven, Brahms, and Stravinsky, performed by the acclaimed young international interpreter Ettore Pagano on cello, accompanied by pianist Massimo Spada.
The beautiful ambiance of the Auditorium San Rocco will be the setting (February 16) for “Beethoven, the Immortal Beloved,” where the expert chamber musicians of Umbria Ensemble will intertwine Beethoven’s unexpected love letters, recited by Domenico Benedetti Valentini, with his youthful trio music in a rare, yet intense evening.
Once again, La Fenice will host the second large orchestra of the season (March 9): the FORM-Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, led by Matthias Bamert, who will present a unified program featuring works from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, revisiting the famous love story of Romeo and Juliet in Tchaikovsky’s and Prokofiev’s music for dance.
The ICO Orchestra Suoni del Sud will perform two additional concerts in the season. Under the direction of Massimo Morganti, the first (March 22) will be a tribute to Carlos Jobim, with Gabriele Mirabassi, one of the world’s leading Brazilian music interpreters, performing the famous works of the inventor of bossa nova.
The second (April 13), featuring “The Eight Seasons,” will take the audience on a journey between the famous Four Seasons by Vivaldi, performed by Ettore Pellegrino on violin, and Piazzolla’s Estaciones, with Fabio Furia, one of the world’s top bandoneonists.
The 20th century, which opened the season, will close (April 30) with an entirely American concert, “Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue,” where the piano of Maurizio Baglini and the saxophone (and direction) of Federico Mondelci, together with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, will guide us through a magical cross-over between Gershwin’s symphonic jazz and Bernstein’s West Side Story.
To engage a new and wider audience in live music, and with the collaboration of the Istituti Comprensivi of Senigallia, the “Family Concert” (February 2 at 11:00 AM, Teatro La Fenice) is scheduled, in which the Orchestra Giovanile Marchigiana Arcus, conducted by Alessandro Marra, will be joined by young pianist Alberto Cartuccia Cingolani, acclaimed for his television appearances on Rai1.
