Wandering through the dunes, in search of the Kentish the Kentish plover at risk of extinction

A walk along the beach of Senigallia will put you in contact with a natural environment of great quality. This is testified by the fact that the embryonic dunes of the free beach have been chosen by the Kentish plover, a small bird at risk of extinction protected by the EU directives.

The presence of this bird, which nests inside small holes, is an indication of the good health of the entire coastal ecosystem. The dunes are protected by a fence to prevent the removal of sand and plants, and the Kentish plover nests are protected in the period from March to July.
