The Duke’s land One fascinating territory and four art towns: Gubbio, Pesaro, Senigallia and Urbino

The Duke’s Land project is the result of the collaboration between the Municipalities that belonged to the ancient Dukedom of Urbino. In May 1999  Gubbio, Pesaro, Senigallia and Urbino made an agreement to increase the reputation of a territory with great cultural and tourism potential. It’s a land that encloses the harmony of Italy, the mark of good life at a natural pace, based on the beauty of art, the quality of the environment and the excellence of food and wine products.

Over the years the project has promoted several cultural initiatives, from goldsmith’s fairs inspired by the great historical traditions of the Della Rovere family, to Renaissance banquets, including the publication of tour guides and a bicycle route.

The Duke’s Land circuit is a unique example in the Italian tourism scenario for the presence of a large number of important cities and villages that used to be capital towns, a sort of ideal cities created by the eight Dukes of Montefeltro and Della Rovere families who ruled this territory in the past centuries.

From the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea, a visit to the Duke’s Land will be an extraordinary journey through time, from ancient history to modern times, in a sequence of emotions and suggestions. Tourists can enjoy the uncontaminated natural setting of the beautiful valleys of Foglia, Metauro, Cesano and Misa rivers. The territory is marked by the work of man, who has created villages that are still intact, rich in monuments and history, surrounded by intensely cultivated fields that offer genuine products with old flavours.

Just like yesterday, the “Land” is today a place built for man, for a new Humanism that can restore the natural rhythm to life.
