Public transportation in Senigallia

Moving sustainably in Senigallia is possible! An efficient urban transportation system connects the different districts of the city and the surrounding villages with the railway station and the historical centre. Special routes are available in summer, are free of charge for the city tourists, and provide a connection with all the accommodation structures of the territory. The sea front service operates according to long hours so that tourists can reach the historical centre and take part in the numerous city events. The ticket for the urban lines costs € 1.25 and is valid for circulating freely on all lines for 60 minutes from validation. Round trip tickets (€ 2.10), weekly, monthly, quarterly and family passes are also available. An extra-urban service is available in front of the railway station, connecting Senigallia to Ancona and to the inland villages, as far as Arcevia.

Explore Senigallia on the little tourist train

Discovering Senigallia aboard the little tourist train is fun. Every day the little tourist train leaves every 30 minutes from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. from piazzale della Libertà in front of Rotonda a Mare. The complete tour lasts about 30-35 minutes. While travelling an audio guide in Italian and English will tell the history of Senigallia and its main landmarks, informing you about the great events and outstanding features of the city and the local territory. The ticket is free for children under 3 years, 4 € for children between 4 and 12 and 6 € for adults. Families can buy a family ticket for two adults and two children for 16€.

Biking in Senigallia’s centre and seafront

Senigallia is a bike city with sustainable mobility thanks to an efficient network of bikeways. The first time you come to Senigallia, you will immediately realise that, especially in summertime, moving around the city centre and the sea front by bike is not only fun and green, but also faster and easier.   Moving around by bike in total safety, from the beach to the city centre and from the city centre to the suburbs and the inland villages, is easy thanks to an efficient network of bikeways, one of the main requirements that have contributed to Senigallia’s Blue Flag since 1997. Dedicated bicycle lanes, which are clearly identified with signs, together with safe cycling-pedestrian underpasses, will allow you to cycle along the sea front, getting to the historical centre in no time and crossing the city while admiring its beauty. Tourists can also use their bikes to discover the hinterland: one of the most fascinating routes is called PercorriMisa. It is a special journey in beautiful natural surroundings, from Misa River mouth to Ostra, connecting the city centre with the inland small towns and villages. The 13 km cycling-pedestrian route can be covered slowly while listening to the sounds of nature, admiring the river’s flora and fauna, with over 50 species of birds.

To Senigallia by train

The railway station is situated just a couple of steps away from the historical centre and the beach. The railway station is situated in a strategic position, just a couple of steps away from the historical centre and the beach. A taxi service and a bus stop for urban and extra-urban lines are available right in front of the railway station. Travelling by train is cheap: an agreement was signed in 2016 between Trenitalia and Confesercenti Marche, in collaboration with Assoturismo to provide a service called “Frecciabianca ti porta a Senigallia, l’Hotel ti regala il viaggio” (Frecciabianca trains take you to Senigallia and your hotel pays for your trip), with stops in Senigallia and special agreements for the partial reimbursement of the train ticket to the Velvet Beach both for long-stays and short weekends.

Holidays – transportation

Senigallia is easy to reach by car. Just take the Senigallia exit on the A14 Adriatic Highway that connects Bologna with Taranto or use one of the many inland roads. For those who prefer to travel by car, the city and the sea front offer free parking areas and paying car parks. The largest free car parks near the historical centre are situated in viale Leopardi (ex pesa pubblica and ponte Portone), largo Boito, viale Bonopera, zona Stadio and largo Puccini (with parking disc). Car parks are available along the beach (with charge in summer). Park-and-ride car parks at 3€ per day from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from June 1st  to Sept. 15th can be found in the harbour district in front of F. Rosi dock, in Villa Torlonia (north of Senigallia), in Saline-Pattinodromo park (south of Senigallia) and in the Ciarnin area. Paying car parks in the historical centre and along the sea front are very easy to use: payment can be made with parking meters or with the app MyCicero that can be downloaded free of charge from App Store, Google Play and Windows Phone to pay with your Smartphone only for the actual parking time. Parking is allowed in the paying car parks of the historical centre from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in weekdays at the following fees; 1 hour € 1.00; ; 8 days € 20.00 with prepaid cards sold at tobacconist’s; 22 days € 55.00 with prepaid cards sold at tobacconist’s.

Arrivare in aereo in vacanza a Senigallia

Reaching the Velvet Beach from Aeroporto delle Marche is easy.   Aeroporto delle Marche is connected with a shuttle bus service from/to Ancona and Falconara (railway station) for all departure and arrival flights between 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. A direct train connects Castelferretti railway station, a few meters away from the airport, to Falconara railway station, where connection trains to Senigallia are available. Aeroporto delle Marche is only 20 km away from Senigallia and can be easily reached also by car or taxi. The major car rentals are available at Aeroporto delle Marche, such as: Autoeuropa – Sicily by car, Autonoleggio Magellano, AVIS, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, Autovia. L’Aeroporto delle Marche dista solo circa 20 km da Senigallia e dunque è facilmente raggiungibile anche in auto o in taxi. All’aeroporto delle Marche operano le agenzie più importanti di noleggio auto quali: Autoeuropa – Sicily by car, Autonoleggio Magellano, AVIS, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, Autovia.
